About Me

Photography is my hobby. It is something I enjoy doing. I am not making any claims about the quality of my 'eye' or my output. I simply like taking photos and sitting in front of the computer to improve or manipulate my images.
I enjoy experimenting with HDR images and find that I am taking 3 or 5 exposures on a regular basis. I will also process a single file to produce the exposures necessary for creating an HDR.
I am not a 'purist' - I do what I do because I like the results.

I hope you will enjoy looking at my photographs.

My Digital History

I bought my first digital camera in the year 2000. It was a 2.1 megapixel Fuji Finepix 2400 Zoom with a 3x optical zoom.

This purchase, coupled with my interest in computers, opened up a more practical and cost effective way to process photographs. No more waiting for the prints to come back only to find half of them were wasted money. I was soon snapping anything and everything in sight with the ability to improve and tidy up my results as necessary.

It wasn't long before I was hankering for a better specified camera and began looking at suitable cameras in my price bracket. My complete satisfaction of my old Fuji product led me to a Finepix S602 Zoom. This boasted Fujifilm's 3rd generation, 3.1 million effective-pixel Super CCD sensor, a 6x zoom and produced a high-resolution image with up to 2832 x 2128 (6.03 million) recorded pixels

I stuck with the S602 for a couple of years and was generally happy with my results but the nagging to upgrade to a DSLR was always there.

The price of digital SLR's was falling and at last I was able to afford one. After some serious research looking at value for money / quality of output / etc, I finally purchased a Pentax K10D in 2007.

Since then I have added to the supplied DA series 18-55 zoom kit lens and now also own:
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC HSM
Sigma "Bigma" 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM
Samsung D-Xenon 100mm f/2.8 Macro

I have a selection of polarizing and graduated neutral density filters and use a Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod.

Because it is not practical to have my DSLR with me all the time I always carry a pocket camera. This is currently a Fujifilm Finepix F200EXR
